Tell us what you do and what your work typically entails.

I help my customers change the way they think about sales as a profession and also as a business process. No day is the same and it's a fast paced environment at LinkedIn. I'm constantly influencing a wide range of stakeholders that might include sales, marketing, social media, and other roles and functions. Through consulting and training I help them transform their professional brands, approach to prospecting, ways of engaging with their network, and how they build more meaningful relationships. The other great part of my job is being an 'Intrapreneur' and getting to work on big projects that can change the way our business works and the value we offer our customers. Getting the opportunity to take an idea and turn it into a business initiative that will impact thousands of customers is one of the most satisfying feelings I've enjoyed in my job.

How has the altMBA helped you level up?

It's helped me ask better questions and challenged me to put myself first again. I've always been very ambitious, but the altMBA helped me frame my goals and align my efforts to what matters most. One of the biggest learning lessons for me during the program was that done is better than perfect and to trust my judgment above all else. More than ever, I see learning opportunities all around me and I'm not afraid to take them.

What’s the thing you liked most about being part of the altMBA?

Definitely the people! The program and the mentors did a great job of choosing the right people. Of course, the topics, content, and assignments were best in class but without hard-working, passionate, and inspirational peers I wouldn't have had the same experience.

What's something you approached differently recently because of what you learned during the altMBA?

I'm working on a big project at work that's pulled and pushed me in ways I've never experienced in my professional life. I have more eyes from more directions than ever from across the business. Put simply, I'm operating way beyond my league! I had my doubts and worries but during the altMBA I began forming a better narrative for myself and my customers. What is it all for? That was a simple but powerful question that is taking me on a journey beyond my role and project. I embrace the fear and take a leap because I know it's all for so much more than what I can experience or imagine today.
